From farm gate to front door, step by step.

However you use CityFarms — buying, farming, or trading in a market — here is exactly what happens and where your money sits at each point.

If you are buying

  1. Browse by produce, farm or market

Filter by category, location or seller. Every listing shows who is selling it and where they are, down to the farm or the stall.

  2. Add to cart and check out

You can buy from several sellers in one order. Delivery and service fees are shown before you pay, not after.

  3. Your payment is held in escrow

The money goes to our licensed payment partner, not to the seller and not to us. It stays there until your order arrives. How escrow works →

  4. The seller prepares your order

Harvest or pack happens after you order, which is what keeps produce fresh rather than sitting in a warehouse.

  5. A logistics partner delivers

One of our vetted partners collects and brings it to your address. Someone needs to be there to receive it — produce will not wait.

  6. You confirm, and the seller is paid

Confirm delivery and funds are released. If there is a problem, raise it within 24 hours and the money stays held while we look into it.

If you are a farmer

  1. Register and verify your phone

We send a code by SMS. It takes a minute and it keeps fake accounts off the platform.

  2. Set up your farm profile

Farm name, size, what you grow, and your location. The location is shown publicly on our map — pin the farm gate, not your home.

  3. Get vetted by your cooperative

Verification comes from peers who know your farm. That is what makes the badge worth something to buyers.

  4. List your produce

Set your own prices. You can see what similar produce is selling for so you are not guessing at the Lagos price from Epe.

  5. Receive orders and hand over to logistics

You are told what to prepare and when it will be collected.

  6. Get paid after delivery

Funds are released once the buyer confirms. No chasing anyone for payment.

If you are a market trader

  1. Register your stall

Market, row and stall number. Our on-site admin team at Ketu and Mile 12 can help you set up if you would rather not do it on a phone.

  2. Get verified in person

Our team checks the stall exists and is yours. That is a stronger signal to buyers than anything you could upload.

  3. Open your storefront

Your stall appears on the interactive market map, so shoppers can find you the way they would walking the market — only from anywhere in Lagos.

  4. Fulfil orders, including bundles

Buyers can order from several traders in one basket. You handle your part; we coordinate the rest.

Do I have to choose one? No. Many people in this trade are a farmer and an aggregator and an input seller all at once. You can buy on CityFarms whether or not you sell, and selling is something you add to your account rather than a different kind of account.
